General Clinic FAQ
-
Most extended health benefit plans in Ontario cover naturopathic care — typically $300–$1,000 per year. We recommend checking your plan details before your first visit. We provide receipts for all appointments that you can submit directly to your insurer.
-
No referral is needed. You can book directly with us. Naturopathic doctors are primary care providers, which means you can see us as your first point of contact for health concerns.
-
Absolutely. We work collaboratively alongside your existing healthcare team. Many of our patients see both a GP and a naturopath, and we're happy to communicate with your other providers when appropriate.
-
Not at all. Plenty of patients come to us when things are manageable but not quite right, or simply because they want to understand their health more completely before a problem forces the issue. Feeling fine is not the same as feeling your best.
-
No. We work with what you're already doing, not around it. At your first visit we take a full inventory of your medications and supplements and make sure everything we recommend fits safely alongside them. Any decision to change a prescription stays with your prescribing physician.
-
Many extended health plans in Ontario cover naturopathic medicine. It varies by plan, so it's worth a quick call to your insurer before booking. We provide official receipts for every appointment that you can submit for reimbursement where coverage applies.
-
Both work. We see patients in person at our Toronto clinic and virtually anywhere in Ontario. Your consultation, testing, follow-ups, and full care plan all work seamlessly across both.
Your Journey FAQ
-
They rarely do. Most people who come to Tangible Health are dealing with more than one thing: fatigue and hormones, digestion and skin, anxiety and sleep. The journeys are entry points, not boxes. Your first consultation looks at the full picture, and your care plan is built around what's actually going on, not whichever category you happened to click on.
-
Book a free 15-minute Discovery Call. That's what it's there for. You don't need to have it figured out before you reach out. Figuring it out together is the whole point of that first conversation.
-
That's one of the most common reasons people come to us, and one of the most valid ones. "Something's off" is a real signal. It means your body is telling you something that hasn't been picked up yet. We take that seriously. The first visit is designed to go deep enough to start connecting the dots, even when the picture isn't clear yet.
-
Yes, and most of our patients do. Naturopathic care works alongside your existing care, not in place of it. We'll ask about your current treatments and medications, and your care plan will be built with that full picture in mind.
-
People who feel like something is being missed. That might mean you've had normal test results but still feel unwell, you've been managing a chronic condition for years without real resolution, or you want to understand your health more deeply before something becomes a problem. If any of that sounds familiar, you're in the right place.
Hormone Care FAQ
-
Both can be part of the picture, and they're not mutually exclusive. Where we tend to add the most value is the gap conventional care often leaves: when your bloodwork comes back "normal" but you still don't feel it. We work alongside your existing care, not instead of it.
-
This is one of the most common things we hear, and yes, it's exactly the kind of situation we're set up for. Standard reference ranges are built around population averages, not around how you specifically feel. We look at relationships between hormones, not isolated markers.
-
More than a standard panel. Depending on your symptoms, we may look at comprehensive thyroid markers (not just TSH), full sex hormone profiles, adrenal and cortisol function, insulin and metabolic markers, and relevant nutrient levels. We explain what we find in plain language.
-
No. We work with what you're already doing, not around it. We'll take a full inventory at your intake and make sure everything we recommend is appropriate alongside them. Any change to existing prescriptions stays with your prescribing physician.
-
Bioidentical hormones are structurally identical to the ones your body produces, prescribed to match your specific needs. Conventional HRT typically uses standardized synthetic or animal-derived doses. Both can be appropriate. We go through all the options with you, and you make the call.
-
It's rarely separate. Estrogen, progesterone, cortisol, thyroid hormones, and testosterone all have direct effects on mood. If your symptoms track with your cycle or showed up during a hormonal transition, hormones are almost certainly part of the picture. We don't treat them as two different problems.
Fertility Care FAQ
-
Yes, and there's a growing body of research to support it. We work by addressing the underlying factors that influence conception: hormone balance, egg and sperm quality, cycle regularity, nutrient status, and stress response. These directly affect your chances, and they're addressable. We don't promise outcomes, but we can give your body a significantly better foundation.
-
We strongly recommend it. Fertility is a shared biology. Male factor issues account for roughly 40–50% of fertility challenges, and many go unaddressed because the focus tends to fall on the female partner. Optimizing both partners gives you the best possible chance, and it's often where the most overlooked improvements are found.
-
It does, and many reproductive specialists actively encourage it. During an IVF cycle we typically focus on improving egg and sperm quality in the 90 days before retrieval, supporting uterine receptivity, managing stress, and supporting recovery afterward. We coordinate with your specialist and make sure everything is compatible with your protocol.
-
It's not too late, and a year of trying without success is exactly the kind of situation this care is built for. We'll look at what you've already tried, identify what hasn't been assessed yet, and build a plan that addresses the gaps. Many of our fertility patients come to us after months or years of trying, and find things that were missed.
-
Unexplained infertility is one of the most common referrals we receive, and it's rarely truly unexplained. Standard workups don't look at everything. Oxidative stress, nutrient deficiencies, subclinical thyroid dysfunction, and lifestyle factors all affect fertility and are rarely included in a standard panel. We look deeper, and we almost always find something worth addressing.
-
At minimum, plan for 90 days, one full egg and sperm development cycle. Many couples try to conceive during this period, and some do. Others need more time, particularly if there are structural or hormonal factors involved. We'll give you a realistic picture at your first consultation based on your specific situation.
Prenatal & Postpartum Care FAQ
-
Yes, with the right training and approach. Naturopathic doctors are trained in prenatal and perinatal care and qualified to make decisions that are safe for pregnancy. We adjust every recommendation, herbs, supplements, and treatments, specifically for your trimester and health status. Nothing carries over from non-pregnant care without being reviewed for safety.
-
Ideally before you're pregnant, since pre-conception preparation gives you the best possible start. But any point during pregnancy is beneficial: first trimester support for nausea and nutrients, second and third trimester care for energy, digestion, and birth prep, and postpartum care for recovery. Start wherever you are.
-
Yes. We commonly support concerns such as nausea, fatigue, digestive issues, sleep disturbances, and back or pelvic discomfort. Care is tailored to your stage of pregnancy and individual needs to help you feel more comfortable and supported throughout your journey.
-
If it's affecting your quality of life, it's worth addressing, regardless of whether it's "normal." Postpartum fatigue, mood shifts, and physical depletion are common, but common doesn't mean you have to white-knuckle through them. There are often specific, addressable factors driving how you feel. Come in and let's find out what they are.
-
Absolutely, and this is how most of our prenatal patients work with us. Naturopathic care sits alongside your primary obstetric care, not instead of it. We communicate with your care team where relevant and make sure everything is compatible with your existing prenatal plan.
Digestive Health & Nutrition Care FAQ
-
Elimination diets address reactions to food, they don't address why those reactions are happening. If your gut lining is compromised, your microbiome is imbalanced, or you have SIBO, removing foods provides temporary relief at best. We identify the underlying driver and treat that. Most patients find they can reintroduce many foods they've avoided for years, once the gut is properly healed.
-
Yes, and this is the most common situation we see. "Normal" on a scope or standard bloodwork means the structural integrity of your gut is intact. It doesn't tell us anything about your microbiome, intestinal permeability, motility, or the functional state of your digestion. We use different tests that look at these things, and that's often where the answers are.
-
No. Come as you are. Changing your diet before your first consultation can actually make it harder for us to get an accurate picture. Bring your food diary if you have one, and be honest about what you're eating. That information is valuable.
-
Yes, and the two are frequently connected. Gut dysbiosis, insulin resistance, and nutrient malabsorption all affect weight and metabolism. We don't take a calorie-restriction approach. We address the underlying factors making weight management difficult, and the weight often responds as a result.
-
It depends on how long the problem has been there and what's causing it. Most patients notice real improvement within the first 4–6 weeks. Full restoration, the kind where you can eat a normal, varied diet without symptoms, typically takes 3–6 months. We structure care in phases and set clear milestones so you always know what we're working toward.
Energy, Sleep & Stress Care FAQ
-
Feeling tired despite getting enough sleep can be linked to factors such as stress, hormone imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, poor sleep quality, or other underlying health concerns. Understanding the root cause is often the first step toward improving energy levels.
-
Yes. Chronic stress can affect many areas of health, including sleep, digestion, hormone balance, immune function, energy levels, and overall well-being.
-
You're not alone. Many people seek care after months or even years of feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck. We work to identify the factors contributing to burnout and create a plan that supports recovery and long-term resilience.
-
Yes. Sleep challenges are often connected to factors such as stress, hormone health, lifestyle habits, and overall wellness. We take a comprehensive approach to help improve sleep quality and support more restorative rest.
-
Quite possibly. Standard thyroid testing typically measures TSH alone. A complete picture includes TSH, free T3, free T4, and thyroid antibodies. Subclinical dysfunction, particularly early-stage Hashimoto's, can cause significant fatigue, cold intolerance, and cognitive symptoms while TSH stays within range. We look at the full panel.
-
Sleep hygiene advice and sleep aids address the symptom, not the cause. If your cortisol is elevated at night, if a nutrient deficiency is affecting melatonin, if your blood sugar drops at 3am and wakes you, no amount of sleep hygiene fully fixes it. We identify what's actually disrupting your sleep and address that directly.
Immune & Inflammation Support Care FAQ
-
It's fundamental. The gut houses the majority of the immune system, and intestinal permeability, commonly called "leaky gut," is a significant contributor to immune dysregulation and autoimmune activation. The research linking gut microbiome health to autoimmune disease activity is robust and growing. Almost all of our immune and autoimmune protocols involve gut assessment and healing as a core component.
-
To be accurate: naturopathic care cannot cure autoimmune conditions. What it can do, with a meaningful body of evidence behind it, is reduce inflammatory burden, address the gut and lifestyle factors that influence disease activity, support immune regulation, and improve quality of life. Many patients find it significantly reduces flare frequency and severity alongside their conventional treatment. That's not a small thing.
-
Yes, and this is actually an ideal time to act. Elevated CRP, ESR, or other markers in the absence of a clear diagnosis often means inflammation is present but hasn't yet produced a diagnosable condition. Addressing it at this stage, before a diagnosis is attached, is far more effective than waiting. We investigate what's driving the elevation and address it.
-
Some natural agents can interact with immunosuppressants, and we take this seriously. A thorough medication review is part of your first consultation, and we never recommend anything without checking compatibility with your current protocol. We work within your existing treatment, not around it. If you're under a specialist's care, we're happy to communicate with them directly.
-
Many supplements are safe alongside autoimmune medications, but this is always reviewed individually. Vitamin D, omega-3s, and many gut-healing nutrients have strong safety profiles and are commonly used alongside conventional treatment. We check every recommendation against your current medications before anything is included in your plan.
Skin, Hair & Detox Care FAQ
-
In a clinical context, detoxification refers to the body's liver-based processes for metabolizing and eliminating hormones, chemicals, medications, and environmental compounds. "Detox care" means supporting those pathways with targeted nutrition, botanical medicine, and lifestyle strategies, not a juice cleanse. We assess liver function and toxic burden through functional testing and build a plan based on what's actually there.
-
Standard hormone panels are a starting point, not the full picture. Hormonal acne can be driven by relative hormonal imbalance, not absolute deficiency, or by impaired estrogen clearance that doesn't show up in a basic panel. We look at the full hormonal picture, including liver detoxification pathways and gut function, which affect how your body processes and eliminates hormones.
-
Yes, and this is one of the most common situations we see. Long-term antibiotic use disrupts the gut microbiome in ways that can perpetuate the very skin issues it was intended to treat. We assess the current state of your gut, address any dysbiosis from prior treatment, and work on the hormonal and nutritional drivers that have likely been present throughout.
-
Yes. Skin concerns can be influenced by factors such as hormone imbalances, digestive health, nutrition, stress, inflammation, and immune function. Looking at the bigger picture can help uncover underlying contributors and support healthier skin from within.
-
Hair loss has many potential drivers: hormonal imbalance (including thyroid), nutritional deficiency (iron, ferritin, zinc, biotin, protein), stress-related shedding, autoimmune causes, and androgenic hair loss. A thorough intake plus targeted bloodwork almost always identifies the primary driver. We address that specifically rather than taking a shotgun supplement approach.
Full-Body Wellness & Prevention Care FAQ
-
Prevention-focused care looks at the factors that influence long-term health, including nutrition, sleep, stress, movement, and lifestyle habits. The goal is to identify potential concerns early and support your health before problems arise.
-
Your annual physical screens for disease. A naturopathic wellness visit assesses health, which is a different thing. We use a broader range of functional tests, spend significantly more time on your history and lifestyle, and build an individualized plan rather than a population-level recommendation. Most patients find the two approaches complement each other well.
-
No. Prevention-focused care can be beneficial at any age. Building healthy habits and addressing risk factors early can help support long-term health and well-being.
-
For most patients, a comprehensive annual visit with one or two follow-ups across the year provides a solid foundation. More frequent visits are warranted during periods of transition, hormonal changes, significant life stressors, or when we're actively addressing something. We'll recommend a schedule at your first consultation.
-
It varies by individual, but typically includes comprehensive hormonal panels (thyroid, sex hormones, cortisol), metabolic markers (fasting glucose, insulin, lipids, inflammatory markers), nutritional assessment (vitamin D, B12, iron, and others relevant to your history), and a full intake covering family history, lifestyle, sleep, stress, and current health status.
-
That's exactly when it's most valuable. Feeling fine often means sub-clinical dysfunction that hasn't yet crossed into symptomatic territory. Catching and addressing these patterns early, before they produce a diagnosis, is the entire point of preventive care. Most patients who come to us for a wellness baseline find at least one or two things worth addressing that they hadn't been looking at.
-
Family history tells us where to focus. For cardiovascular risk, we assess and address modifiable factors: inflammation, blood sugar regulation, lipid optimization, blood pressure, and lifestyle variables. For cancer prevention, we focus on the inflammatory and metabolic drivers that most influence risk. None of this replaces your conventional screening schedule, it complements it.
Our Services FAQ
-
You don't need to have it all figured out before booking. We'll take the time to understand your health concerns, goals, and symptoms, and help guide you toward the care that best fits your needs.
-
No. Health concerns are often interconnected, and your care plan may draw from multiple areas of focus. We tailor our recommendations to your individual needs rather than limiting care to a single service.
-
Yes. Naturopathic care can complement the care you receive from your family doctor, specialist, or other healthcare providers as part of a collaborative approach to your health.
-
No. A referral is not required to book an appointment or access naturopathic services.
-
Your treatment plan is personalized based on your needs. Depending on your care plan, treatments such as acupuncture, nutrition counselling, supplementation, or other therapies may be incorporated into your visits when appropriate.
Acupuncture FAQ
-
Most people find acupuncture to be very comfortable. The needles are extremely thin, and you may feel a brief pinch or a mild sensation as they're inserted. Many patients leave feeling relaxed and refreshed.
-
Yes. Acupuncture is generally very safe when performed by a licensed and trained practitioner using sterile, single-use needles.
-
The number of sessions depends on your health concerns, goals, and how your body responds to treatment. Some people notice improvements after a few visits, while others benefit from ongoing care for more complex or chronic conditions.
-
Yes. Acupuncture is often used alongside other naturopathic therapies. It can also complement conventional medical care.
-
Eat a light meal beforehand and stay hydrated. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing if you can. That's it. No special preparation needed.
Traditional Chinese Medicine FAQ
-
Traditional Chinese Medicine has been practiced for thousands of years and continues to be studied through modern research. While the level of evidence varies depending on the condition and treatment, therapies such as acupuncture have been supported by research for a range of health concerns. Your care is always tailored to your individual needs and informed by both clinical experience and current evidence.
-
Yes. When prescribed by a qualified practitioner, Chinese herbal formulas are selected based on your individual health needs and prescribed with safety in mind. We also consider any medications, supplements, or existing health conditions before making recommendations.
-
An acupuncture appointment focuses on needle therapy, while a TCM appointment includes a broader assessment and may incorporate Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, dietary therapy, and other traditional treatments. TCM is often recommended for more complex or ongoing health concerns where a more comprehensive approach may be beneficial.
-
Both approaches focus on supporting the body's natural ability to heal, but they are based on different philosophies and treatment methods. Naturopathic medicine integrates modern medical knowledge with evidence-informed natural therapies, while Traditional Chinese Medicine uses its own diagnostic framework and treatments such as acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
-
Our Chinese herbal formulas are sourced from trusted professional suppliers that follow strict quality and safety standards. Each formula is selected and customized based on your individual needs.
Lifestyle Medicine FAQ
-
No. Nutrition is one component, but Lifestyle Medicine covers the full picture: movement, sleep, stress, environmental factors, and behavioural change. Think of it as a systems view of how you live, and how to improve it.
-
No. Many patients come without a specific diagnosis. They just know something isn't working and want a clear-eyed look at why.
-
A dietitian's primary focus is nutrition. Lifestyle Medicine is broader. It addresses how your whole daily environment and behaviours interact with your health. If nutrition-specific depth is needed, we coordinate with dietitians and other providers as part of your care.
-
No. We focus on realistic, sustainable changes that fit your lifestyle. Small, consistent improvements often lead to the most meaningful long-term results.
-
Yes. Lifestyle Medicine is designed to complement your existing healthcare and can be used alongside care from your family doctor, specialist, or other healthcare providers.
Hydrotherapy FAQ
-
It is broadly safe and suitable for most patients, including those who are older or managing chronic conditions. Your practitioner will review your health history beforehand and adjust the protocol as needed.
-
Not at all. Constitutional Hydrotherapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment. The alternating temperature can feel stimulating, but it is comfortable throughout.
-
Hydrotherapy is incredibly safe for most people, but because temperature shifts powerfully impact your circulatory system, we take precautions. We screen every patient beforehand to ensure safety. Hydrotherapy may need to be modified or avoided if you have certain cardiovascular conditions, a pacemaker, unmanaged high blood pressure, open wounds, or active skin infections. We always tailor the intensity and temperature of your treatment to match your current health status perfectly.
-
Absolutely! In fact, we love teaching patients how to integrate simple water therapies into their daily routines. Finishing your morning shower with 30 to 60 seconds of cold water is an excellent way to boost circulation and energy. Localized hot and cold compresses or therapeutic epsom salt foot baths are also fantastic, accessible ways to maintain your progress and support your body's natural recovery pathways between clinic visits.
-
Many patients experience immediate relief from acute pain, muscle tension, or mental stress during their very first session. For chronic conditions, systemic inflammation, or long-term immune support, we typically recommend a series of 4 to 6 sessions spaced closely together. This allows the physiological benefits to build on each other, creating lasting changes in your circulation, nervous system regulation, and overall cellular recovery.
Physical Medicine FAQ
-
There is meaningful overlap. What distinguishes our approach is the naturopathic lens: we look at the systemic contributors to physical pain and integrate structural treatment with the rest of your care plan. If you're also working with a physio or chiro, we're happy to coordinate.
-
No, the treatments are designed to be therapeutic and safe. While you might feel a deep stretching sensation or occasional pressure during joint mobilization, it should not be painful. Many patients experience an immediate sense of relief, lightness, and increased mobility right after a session. If any technique feels uncomfortable to you, we can easily adapt our approach using gentler, low-force structural methods.
-
Yes, home care is a critical part of lasting structural change. While manual therapy in the clinic helps restore mobility and realign joints, your daily movement habits and muscle memory are what keep them there. We prescribe specific, easy-to-follow stretching and strengthening exercises tailored to your body. These micro-routines retrain weak muscles and support your new, balanced alignment between clinic visits.
-
Because everything in the body is connected to its structural alignment, a wide variety of conditions benefit from this care. It is highly effective for chronic lower back and neck pain, tension headaches, sciatica, scoliosis-related discomfort, and joint issues in the shoulders, hips, or knees. It is also an excellent proactive care tool for athletes wanting to optimize their movement efficiency and prevent repetitive-strain injuries.
-
That sound is a completely normal, harmless physiological reaction called cavitation. Your joints are surrounded by a protective fluid that acts as a lubricant. When a joint is gently mobilized or adjusted, it creates a quick change in pressure inside the joint space. This causes tiny bubbles of dissolved gases (like nitrogen) to safely release from the fluid, creating a popping sound. It is not the sound of bones grinding, and it is often followed by an immediate feeling of physical relief and openness.
-
Structural change is a process, not a one-time fix, because your muscles and nervous system have deep "muscle memory" keeping you in your current alignment. For chronic posture issues, we typically see the best results with an initial treatment phase of 1 to 2 visits per week for a few consecutive weeks to break the old habit pattern. Once your body stabilizes, we transition you to maintenance or "check-up" visits every few weeks or months to keep you moving fluidly and prevent future issues.
-
Yes, absolutely. Physical medicine is highly beneficial for both osteoarthritis and spinal disc issues because it reduces the uneven mechanical pressure on those vulnerable areas. However, our approach changes entirely depending on your condition. For arthritis or acute disc herniations, we avoid high-velocity thrusts and instead utilize gentle joint mobilization, soft-tissue decompression, and specialized traction techniques to safely relieve nerve pressure, increase circulation, and reduce pain without aggravating the tissue.
Clinical Nutrition FAQ
-
Both draw on nutritional science, but naturopathic clinical nutrition integrates functional testing, a full health history, and a broader view of how nutrition intersects with your other treatments. We often work alongside dietitians when their specific depth is beneficial.
-
Not necessarily. Some conditions call for a structured therapeutic protocol. Others require targeted adjustments rather than a complete overhaul. The recommendations are specific to your situation and to what is actually sustainable for you.
-
No. Sustainable nutrition change rarely requires deprivation. It usually requires understanding, priorities, and a structure that works with real life.
-
Yes. Clinical nutrition can benefit anyone looking to improve their energy, digestion, immune health, hormone balance, athletic performance, or overall well-being through personalized nutrition.
-
No. Supplements are intended to complement a balanced diet, not replace it. When recommended, they are selected to address specific nutritional needs as part of a comprehensive care plan.
-
Not always. Depending on your symptoms and health history, we may recommend dietary changes, an elimination diet, or testing when appropriate.
-
Yes. Nutrition plays an important role in digestive health. Personalized dietary strategies can help manage symptoms such as bloating, constipation, acid reflux, and food sensitivities while supporting overall gut health.
-
Yes. We focus on sustainable nutrition strategies that support your health goals, metabolism, and lifestyle rather than restrictive diets or quick fixes.
Botanical Medicine FAQ
-
When prescribed by a qualified naturopathic doctor, yes. The risks associated with botanical medicine are primarily from unsupervised self-prescribing, poor quality sourcing, and unmanaged interactions with medications. We address all of these as a matter of standard practice.
-
In many cases, yes, but it requires a proper review of your medications and your formula. We always assess for herb-drug interactions before prescribing.
-
Yes. We source herbal products from trusted professional suppliers that follow rigorous quality and safety standards to ensure purity and consistency.
-
Botanical medicines are available in several forms, including capsules, tablets, tinctures (liquid extracts), teas, powders, and topical preparations. Your practitioner will recommend the option that best suits your needs.
-
Some herbs are considered safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding, while others are not. We carefully select herbal medicines based on your stage of pregnancy, breastfeeding status, and overall health.
-
Botanical medicine is personalized to your specific health concerns and prescribed at therapeutic doses by a qualified practitioner. This helps ensure the herbs are appropriate, safe, and effective for your individual needs.
-
We source from suppliers who meet quality and sustainability standards. If you have specific concerns about a particular herb or its sourcing, ask us directly.
Naturopathic Counselling FAQ
-
No. Naturopathic Counselling is complementary to, not a replacement for, regulated mental health therapy. If you are dealing with a clinical mental health condition, we will help you access the right support and work alongside that care. If you are navigating the emotional dimension of your physical health or need a deeper conversation than most appointments allow, this is the right space.
-
Absolutely not. Many patients come to us when things are manageable but not good, when they are tired of white-knuckling through their days and ready to understand why.
-
Yes. Standard patient confidentiality applies. We can discuss any specific concerns you have about privacy before or at your first appointment.
-
Yes. Naturopathic counselling is often integrated with other therapies such as nutrition, acupuncture, botanical medicine, and lifestyle medicine to create a comprehensive treatment plan.
-
No. Naturopathic counselling is not psychotherapy. It focuses on health education, lifestyle coaching, stress management, and behaviour change as part of your overall naturopathic care. If specialized mental health support is needed, we can help guide you to the appropriate resources.
Nutraceuticals & Supplements FAQ
-
Yes, meaningfully so. Third-party testing, bioavailable forms of key nutrients, and consistent potency are not guaranteed in consumer-grade products. For therapeutic purposes, the quality difference matters.
-
That's one of the most common things patients ask us to do. We review your full list, identify what is useful, what is unnecessary, and what may be counterproductive, and build a streamlined protocol from there.
-
Some can. This is exactly why nutraceutical prescribing should be supervised. We review all interactions before recommending anything.
-
Nutraceuticals are available in a variety of forms, including capsules, tablets, powders, liquids, chewables, and gummies. Your recommendations will be based on your individual needs, preferences, and treatment goals.
-
While the consultation where nutraceuticals are recommended may be covered under your naturopathic benefits, the products themselves are typically not covered by insurance. Coverage varies by provider and plan, so we recommend checking with your insurance company for details.
Bio-identical Hormones FAQ
-
Conventional HRT typically uses synthetic or animal-derived hormones that have different molecular structures from endogenous hormones. Bio-identical hormones are molecularly identical to what your body produces. The clinical significance of this difference is an active area of research and discussion. We are happy to walk you through the evidence at your consultation.
-
All hormone therapy carries considerations and risks that depend on your individual health history, the hormones involved, the doses used, and the duration of treatment. We review all of this thoroughly before prescribing and monitor you on an ongoing basis.
-
No. Hormonal imbalances that respond to bio-identical therapy can occur at any age. Perimenopause, which can begin a decade before the final menstrual period, is one of the most underrecognised windows for hormonal intervention.
-
Bio-identical hormone therapy is not appropriate for everyone. We begin with a comprehensive assessment of your symptoms, health history, and, when appropriate, laboratory testing to determine whether it may be a suitable treatment option for you.
-
Not necessarily. The duration of treatment varies from person to person and depends on your symptoms, health goals, and response to therapy. We regularly reassess your treatment plan and make adjustments as your needs change.
Intramuscular Injection FAQ
-
Some injectable compounds in Ontario require a prescription. Your naturopathic doctor is licensed to prescribe and administer the injections we offer. We manage all of this as part of your care.
-
Briefly. The sensation is a quick, sharp pinch at the injection site, followed by possible mild soreness for a day or two. Most patients find it well worth the benefit.
-
Many patients notice improved energy and clarity within 24 to 72 hours of a B12 or B-complex injection, particularly if their levels were low. Other compounds work on a longer timeline. We set expectations based on your specific clinical picture.
-
In most cases, yes. We review your full medication and supplement list before administering anything. If there is a reason to delay or modify the approach, we will tell you.
-
Intramuscular (IM) injections deliver high-dose nutrients directly into your muscle tissue, typically in the arm or glute. Because muscle tissue has a rich, dense supply of blood vessels, the vitamins, minerals, or amino acids are steadily absorbed straight into your bloodstream.
